Another paper submission

I've submitted a paper to the Active Media Technology 2005 conference in Japan. Not sure what the acceptance rates are - this is an IEEE sponsored conference, so perhaps a little lower than the IADIS conference. The last conference in Madrid went well and the presentation was very well received (which was nice), so hopefully I'm getting a bit better at describing my work to other academics.

Tomorrow I head off to Madrid to give my first conference talk. I'll be away from the office from Tues 5th to Sun 10th October.

Java Plugin Problems

On Internet Explorer, there is a known bug with JavaScript -> Applet -> Another Applet -> JavaScript calls. Now, also, on Mozilla there is a problem with JavaScript -> Applet -> JavaScript calls. If an applet is marked as scriptable, then the Java Runtime falls into an indefinite loop checking the security before allowing JavaScript to call the Applet. This loop can take up to a minute to terminate. This happens with J2SE version 5.0 release candidate.

This is beginning to make Java Applet integration with JavaScript on the page awkward!
